Building Operations

The Building Operations group manages the physical assets, grounds and security for over two-hundred FAS facilities comprising approximately ten million square feet of built space and hundreds of acres of outdoor campus space. It serves as the central point of communication on and coordination of operational issues for FAS. The group's responsibilities include day-to-day maintenance and renewal of the facilities, management of campus energy and sustainability efforts, as well as the supervision of building systems and infrastructure.

The FAS portfolio consists of residential, instructional, laboratory, library, administrative, athletic, theatrical and dining facilities, which are organized into three functional areas: Academic and Administrative; Residential; and Science. It includes many architecturally significant and historic buildings, a number of which appear on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.

The Buildings Operations Group also oversees several prominent programs for FAS including the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Program and the annual undergraduate move in and move out.
