The Infrastructure and Sustainability (I&S) team is responsible for the strategic oversight of physical security, mechanical systems, and building decarbonization within OPRP. I&S evaluates the current state of physical infrastructure and sets best practices to promote standardization and improved portfolio performance. We partner with the Planning, Capital Projects, and Building Operations teams to find efficiencies within all stages of the physical asset management cycle.

I&S sets strategic priories for the management of the systems within our scope and provides expertise for the execution of those priorities. We strive to drive forward the OPRP mission by ensuring continuity of academic programming while reducing operating costs, carbon emissions, and threats to safety and property.

Below are focus areas within each pillar of our team:

### **Security:**

- Conduct control assessments for all OPRP buildings and establishing standards for accountability and tracking.
- Create policies and procedures focused on preparedness and risk management.
- Assessing all legacy security systems within the building portfolio and creating strategic plans for modernizing and integrating those systems.

### **Mechanical:**

- Establishes Building Management System and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing standards for use in capital project design and building operations.
- Deploying new preventative maintenance strategies in OPRP-managed buildings to improve the reliability of existing systems.
- Conduct targeted retrocommissioning projects on buildings and systems to improve performance and reduce operating costs.

### **Sustainability:**

- Provide guidance to FAS leadership on University-wide sustainability commitments, specifically Harvard’s Fossil Fuel Neutral and Net Zero goals.
- Develop and manage sustainability projects that align with OPRP’s strategic plans and Harvard’s climate goals.
- Support decarbonization planning by integrating leadership priorities with Office for Sustainability recommendations to deliver a cohesive decarbonization road map for FAS.
